Chamber music cycle of the Auner Quartet

Bookable now: The chamber music cycle of the Auner Quartet will take place on four Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in the 2022/23 season.

The Auner Quartet's chamber music cycle in the Imperial Court Chapel offers an hour of varied music from all epochs, charmingly explained by the members of the ensemble and personally discussed with a glass of wine in hand afterwards.

The programme includes exciting works from the Viennese classical period as well as new music - with a string quartet by the great-aunt of the first violinist, Mary Dickenson-Auner, even with a direct family connection.

About the ensemble:

With "The award-winning string quartet: a perfect musical match" as the first Austrian ensemble on the cover of the Performing Arts Yearbook of Europe, the Vienna-based Auner Quartet has now firmly established itself on the international music scene. A committee of the Austrian Foreign Ministry appointed the ensemble to the status of Cultural Ambassadors of Austria (NASOM series). The quartet consists of violinists Daniel and Barbara Auner, violist Nora Romanoff-Schwarzberg and cellist Konstantin Zelenin and performs regularly in concerts at a number of well-known festivals and concert halls worldwide. Praised for its "stylistic assurance and readiness for emotion ... for all four, chamber music is the essence of musicality per se ..." (Radio Ö1, "Intrada"), the ensemble today demonstrates to its listeners "refinement, quality and musical sophistication" through all musical epochs. Following the old Viennese tradition of salon concerts, the ensemble has been performing its own string quartet cycle in Vienna for eight years, where it regularly presents and explains a varied repertoire in partnership with "Radio Klassik" in the Brahms Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, the Schubert Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Arnold Schönberg Center, the Baroque Hall of the Vienna City Hall and the Ehrbar Hall, among others. Since the 2021/22 season, the cycle has taken place exclusively in Vienna's Imperial Court Chapel.

The Auner Quartet is supported in Vienna by the string manufacturer Thomastik Infeld, the first violinist plays on a violin by G.B. Guadagnini from the collection of valuable string instruments of the Austrian National Bank.”
