For over ten years, the duo consisting of Austrian accordionist Klaus Paier and Croatian cellist Asja Valcic has been thrilling audiences with music that transcends stylistic boundaries and impressively combines chamber music, jazz and world music. Audiences and critics alike are regularly fascinated by the intensity and depth of their interplay: Der Spiegel describes it as ‘breathtaking’, while The Guardian praises it as ‘gripping interplay’.
Their journey together began in 2009 with their debut album À Deux, which immediately attracted a lot of attention and demonstrated the extraordinary musical chemistry between the two. Since then, they have released several albums and made a name for themselves internationally – both in large concert halls and at renowned festivals. With each new project, they expand the tonal spectrum of their unusual ensemble, constantly reinventing themselves in the process.
What connects Paier and Valcic is not only their outstanding musical talent, but above all an intuitive understanding of each other and a shared vision of music as a living dialogue. Their interpretations are finely nuanced, emotionally dense and full of spontaneous energy – a real experience for all the senses.
