The ÜBERGÄNGE Festival of the Wiener Hofmusikkapelle will take place for the fourth time in the Imperial Court Chapel from 29 March to 5 April 2026, once again offering a diverse programme of sacred and secular music.
In addition to the masses on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, the traditional programme series ‘IMPULSE in the Imperial Court Chapel’ is a highlight. Every lunchtime from Monday, 30 March to Friday, 3 April, 12:00-12:30 p.m., Nadja Kayali will recite texts by five renowned female writers. Admission is free. The works, written especially for ‘IMPULSE in the Imperial Court Chapel’ and the Carinthian Summer on the theme of ‘togetherness’, will be premiered in the special atmosphere of the Imperial Court Chapel. The musical accompaniment for the series will be provided by the Company of Music.
Two special benefit concerts round off this year's ÜBERGÄNGE Festival. In keeping with the cycle of the year, both deal with the theme of ‘The Seven Last Words’ in very different compositions. On Tuesday, 31 March, at 6:30 p.m., the Wiener Sängerrunde (conducted by Karl-Gerhard Straßl) will perform ‘The Seven Last Words of Christ’ by Theodore Dubois in aid of Caritas. On Friday, 3 April, at 6:30 p.m., a charity concert with the Auner Quartet will take place in aid of ‘Austrian Doctors’. The programme for this evening includes Joseph Haydn's ‘The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross’.
