Vocal poetry meets the art of words – when words dissolve into sound and sound condenses into words, blurring the boundaries between music and language.
In this a cappella concert, the Vienna Chamber Choir, together with performance poet Katharina Wenty, immerses the audience in an evening that blends music and language into a single sensual experience.
With Edward Elgar’s ‘There is sweet music’, folk song settings by Arnold Schönberg, ‘Silent Steps’ by Nana Forte, ‘Five Flower Songs’ by Benjamin Britten, Clytus Gottwald’s arrangements of Clara and Robert Schumann’s music set to poems by their contemporaries, Claude Debussy, Sven-David Sandström (from the ‘Love Songs’) and ‘Iuppiter’ by Michael Ostrzyga – the choir takes the audience on a journey from romantic to contemporary in an evening full of musical magic and moving moments.
A concert that touches both the heart and the ear – and lingers long after.
